Our research group is aimed at improving patients’ quality of life and bettering their treatment by developing innovative medical technologies. Specifically, we focus on targeting metastatic cancer with nanotechnology, and on constructing miniature medical devices that couple diagnosis to therapy (theranostic devices). Our lab is headed by Dr Avi Schroeder, who has years of experience in nanotechnology and personalized medicine.
Dr. Avi Schroeder has translational experience with the development of liposome-based clinical systems. He is the author of scientific papers in the field of nanotechnology and medicine. Schroeder is the inventor on 14 patents, and recipient of 20 national and international innovation awards. Dr. Schroeder is a scientific-entrepreneur, starting 5 successful Technion spin-outs.

She completed her PhD studies under the supervision of Prof. Ayelet Fishman in the same department. Her research focused on production of valuable chiral sulfoxides using oxidizing enzymes. Janna joined Dr. Schroeder’s group and serves as a lab director and senior scientist, involved in many projects in the lab.
Omer worked as an undergraduate research student in the lab for 3 years focusing on proteolytic enzyme delivery for tissue manipulation.
In his current PhD research, Omer is focusing on development of synthetic cells and cell-free protein synthesis systems.
Ashima joined the lab as an intern for her master’s thesis dissertation in January 2016.
Ashima continues to work as a PhD student to explore and optimize the therapeutic payload a single drug loaded nanoparticle must carry, to be capable of killing a single cancer cell.
He completed his MSc studies under the supervision of Prof. Avi Domb at the Hebrew University in Medicinal Chemistry (2017).
Mohammed is completing his PhD studies in our group, focusing on active targeting of Head and neck cancer using nanotechnology.
